Shepard Gardens Seniors Residence
This lump sum project began in January 1998 as an integral part of the Pentecostal Benevolent Association of Ontario's vision for their Shepard Village community for seniors. The first two phases, this seniors residence provides 115 units with one level of underground parking. The masonry exterior has large expanses of glasing, including corner windows in many units. The site plan preserves a stand of mature trees along the west property line and creates a lavishly landscaped site at grade, including private patios for some ground suites and a stunning courtyard at the main building entrance. The six storey complex offer one and two bedroom suites for persons at least 65 years of age and includes a range of easy living features and amenities to foster independent living in a secure environment; wheelchair-accessible common areas, raised electrical outlets, storage areas, task lighting at kitchen counters, underground parking, lower window sills, laundry rooms on two floors, and games, excersize and reading rooms. This facility was completed on time and on budget.
