Description:

This project included the design and construction of a 206,000 square foot, $48.5 million dollar bus maintenance and storage facility. The space can store up to 56 buses indoor, and includes outdoor parking for 12 buses and other vehicles. The facility’s Bus repair shop includes indoor fueling services bays, fully automated bus wash systems, inspection pit bays with pit jacks, body repair, other service bay with in ground hoist and overhead gantry crane and associated equipment. The employee amenities include washrooms, showers, lockers, a lunchroom with kitchenette, a lounge, office space, meeting rooms and training areas, and storage rooms.

This project was also able to exceed the LEED® Silver target and achieve LEED® Gold certification. This facility was designed to use 40% less energy than with standard construction. The Co-Gen system was installed on the roof top of the Facility. The system generates the electricity used to heat the floor of the service bey areas. This system also provided LEED credits for the project and enhanced its sustainability.
