Description:
The library undertook its first modern re-imagining since 1985, which included a renovation and expansion to provide more space, an internal reorganization of the facility, update and improve building systems and redevelop and improve the Library grounds. Inside, a large central staircase leads patrons downstairs to an expanded children’s books area while, on the main floor, a youth/teen fiction area is located in the former children’s books area. Originally opened in September 1980 at the site of the former central Firehall, the main branch saw the library’s holdings moved from the aging and cramped Carnegie Building adjacent to City Hall.
