Junior Health & Safety Coordinator
Location: Etobicoke
Position Description:

We are currently looking for a highly skilled, caring, and safety focused individual for our team. Reporting to the Director, Safety, the Junior Health & Safety Coordinator plays a vital role in assisting the Superintendent(s) and project team with all aspects of project health and safety. This position involves coordinating, implementing, and monitoring various health and safety programs, policies, and practices to maintain compliance with regulations, prevents incidents, and create a safe work environment. The coordinator works closely with employees, management, project superintendents, and relevant authorities to promote a culture of safety and minimize risks.
Responsibility
- Assist with project safety start-up by supporting the writing of plans and hazard assessments.
- Help maintain project safety boards and centers.
- Conduct safety orientations under supervision.
- Assist in conducting incident investigations and prepare incident reports as needed.
- Support project safety inspections, communicate findings, and file reports.
- Participate in conducting project hazard assessments and assist in communicating hazards.
- Conduct daily hazard assessments alongside Buttcon personnel.
- Help prepare and deliver safety talks.
- Assist in writing, reviewing, and communicating safe work plans and job procedures.
- Inspect first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and other life-saving devices on-site.
- Collect and organize subtrade safety documentation.
- Attend Joint Health & Safety Committee Meetings, taking and distributing meeting minutes as required.
- Participate in Worker Trade Committee Meetings, assisting with minute-taking and distribution.
- Provide administrative support to the Buttcon safety department as needed.
- Act as a point of contact for safety-related inquiries between workers and management.

Qualification Requirements
- Ability to assist in analyzing and developing solutions to safety-related issues.
- Capable of multitasking and prioritizing tasks.
- Willingness to work odd shifts or outside usual hours as needed (hours will be compensated as arranged with the supervisor).
- May be required to be on-call after hours or weekends, with shifts coordinated in advance.
- Must be able to clear a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) clearance and any applicable security checks.
- Proficient in using relevant software for data analysis and reporting.
- A valid G driver's license and access to a vehicle is an asset.
