Humber College Building I and K
These two late victorian buildings have been tastefully and carefully restored to form academic facilities and student/faculty areas. Each of the two buildings were completly gutted following the erection of a complicated building bracing system. Existing walls were underpinned and new foundations prepared. Three floors of physical attic spaces were formed from steel concrete and new elevations were installed. Each facility has new mechanical, electrical and life safety systems and new fire exits were added at the rear of the buildings. Existing farcade work included masonry and stone work restoration and protection, new and replacement windows, and architectural metal work and woodwork trim was added. The project was completed in 15 months and was ahead of the original schedule.
